Vinted Shoppers Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
