Uche Ignites Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.
Control Asserted from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
