An individual of Australian nationality who jumped over a barricade and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been sent away and barred from Singapore.

The man, aged 26, was given a sentence to nine days in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities told local media.

He forced his way through camera crews and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was present at the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

He has a background of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in this summer.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with many saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The pop star has mentioned experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in the English city in spring of 2017 took the lives of 22 individuals and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event multiple times, according to regional reports.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Event security stopped him and pinned him down.

He then uploaded recordings appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "free."

Police arrested him the next day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.

The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by media reports as stating that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was wrong to think he would not face any penalties.

The singer has not spoken about the case.

Erivo discussed the situation to a media outlet, stating that she "simply desired to make sure my colleague was protected."

"I'm sure he had no intention to us injury, but you can't predict with such situations, and I sought to ensure that she was fine. That was my immediate response," she stated.
